True Christian?

This Test is designed to catch out “true christians”, those that I refert to as Fundies. Those that pick and choose bits of the bible, and hold only those bits up as true. Read it all, my friends. All the way to the bottom, then react.

    Dera SK,
I loved it! Immediately went to copy paste and print. This so much sums up my feelings about the Fundies as you call them. Hey, that is Fun dies! How very prophetic!
Seriously though, I did ask a fundie I know if she wears garments of a different cloth and she laughed. I was too kind to point out that according to Leviticus she is committing an abomination and I presume that that is a bad thing that a fundie shouldn’t be so cavalier about!

    That Depends,

The problem with being what I consider to be a “Fundie” (which I will explain in further detail in another post), is that they tend to pick and choose from the old testament the bits that suit them, the same with the new testabement. Things like:

    1. Homophobia
    2. Killing of Pagans

    And ignore things like:

    1. Prayer in public is a Bad Thing (Christians should pray in private, they should not expect returns for their prayers)
    2. Divorce is RIGHT OUT. JC was very strong on this one.

Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE has a personal Theology. Even if it is to belive that there is nothing to believe in. Christians pick and choose the bits from the bible they like, because some of it is really unpalitable in modern society.

That there, however, is the problem. Modern Society has moved on. The Church has always kept pace (some times SETTING the pace), but now society is in direct conflict with some of the most strongly-held beliefs. The big one at the moment being Homosexuality.

Bit by bit the church has changed it’s stance, or become more… accepting based on certain criteria. Divorce is now “acceptable” by the church (under certain circumstances etc. etc.) and I don’t think anyone would expect people to stay together as they used too. We know it’s not good for them, or the kids, or the people around them.

I would guess that the Church is probably looking to find a way to modernise it’self, without loosing face.
