Families Who’d Have Them?

My Grandfather is in hospital. If I was a better blogger, I’d have put that up a fortnight ago when he went in.

The problem is that my Aunt has decided that he’s never going to get better, and is busy doing a wonderful impression of a Greek Mourner (all wailing, and crying, and gnashing of teeth). She’s decided that Deita doesn’t want any visitors, not even close friends, or religious leaders. Okay, most people wouldn’t want to see religious leaders when your not feeling to grand, but this one is a very good faith healer (or at least, he says he is, and most of the family believe him).

This confuses me. It appears that my Aunt is simply a “lip-services” Christian, one of the people that Jesus hated the most, those that “pray in public so that others may see their deeds”, where as true Christians should “pray alone”, because we shouldn’t hunt for rewards for out good deeds.

To that end, I’ve written a pointed letter. Not that I am a great letter writter, but something had to be said, and I think now I should be the one to say it. It’s going to have one of three effects.

1. They will read it, discern it’s meaning, and appologise for being bullish.
2. discern it’s meaning, and loose their temper at me for interfering (and then compleatly missing the points about the fact that Christians should learn to forgive).
3. Think it’s simply a sweet letter from a concerned Nephew.

Of course, it’s entirely possible that it will have an affect that I’ve not forseen, I’m praying for effect 1.
